Uwielbiam strzelectwo długodystansowe i kocham balistykę, więc nie jest niespodzianką, że przez ostatnie 20 lat blisko współpracowałem, w taki czy inny sposób, z wieloma praktykami, przedsiębiorcami i programistami rozwijającymi rozwiązania balistyczne. Jako snajper i instruktor strzelectwa używam na co dzień kilku różnych rozwiązań, ponieważ są one niezbędnymi narzędziami dla mnie i moich kursantów. Można je podzielić na dwie grupy: zestawy balistyczne, które pozwalają na wiele obliczeń, innych niż dane balistyczna a także balistyka zewnętrzna, które zapewnią rozwiązanie dla strzelców, od podstawowego do bardzo zaawansowanego. Od samej elewacji po wszelkiego rodzaju sztuczki strzeleckie, od setek typów siatek po połączenie z Bluetooth i obsługę plików w chmurze.

Chcąc uzyskać swoje dane strzeleckie na dystansie, większość strzelców polega na platformach sprzętowych telefonów komórkowych. Od już martwego PDA po umierający Windows Phone, po powszechne dzisiaj używane iOS i Android. Większość strzelców chce rozwiązania, które mogliby mieć na swoim smartphonie i nosić przy sobie przez cały czas. Oczywiście, istnieje dedykowany sprzęt, taki jak dalmierze laserowe, stacje Kestrel MET, zegarki Garmin Tactrix lub wszechstronne jednostki GPS 701-Foretrekx, które integrują rozwiązania balistyczne. Posiadanie jednego z nich jest dobrym pomysłem na wiele okazji, ale biorąc pod uwagę, że obecnie 100% strzelców nosi przy sobie telefon komórkowy, preferowaną platformą dla rozwiązujących problemy balistyczne są aplikacje na telefony komórkowe.
Mógłbym napisać książkę o różnych aplikacjach balistycznych, ich algorytmach, bibliotekach, ich mocnych i słabych stronach oraz o tym, dlaczego niektóre z nich są preferowane przez tysiące strzelców. Moim skromnym zdaniem Patagonia ColdBore jest najlepszym rozwiązaniem. Gustavo Ruiz z Patagonia Ballistic, to światowej sławy balistyk. Jest on także programistą i ekspertem w dziedzinie Windows. To ograniczyło możliwości komercyjne, ponieważ zarówno PDA, jak i Windows Phone nie przyjęły się na rynku. Przez dziesięciolecia próbowałem przekonać pana Ruiza do skompilowania wersji na Androida i / lub iOS, ale nigdy tego nie zrobił.

Pamiętajcie jednak, że błąd wprowadzania danych jest jednym z głównych problemów większości aplikacji balistycznych. Genesis ma cztery moduły zaprojektowane tak, aby sprostać wymaganiom strzelców: strzelanie, narzędzia, celowanie i system.
Wyobraźcie sobie, że Genesis odziedziczył najpotężniejszy i najdokładniejszy silnik Ballistics na rynku, dobrze znany DABE © firmy ColdBore, który jest zupełnie inny niż ten używany przez 99% wszystkich znanych aplikacji. Moduł Targeting
W module Targeting znajdziemy kompletny system GPS do tworzenia i zapisywania celów za pomocą interaktywnej mapy cyfrowej, w taki sposób, aby móc zobaczyć w czasie rzeczywistym odległość do celu i nastawy dla każdego celu natychmiast i aktualizowane w czas rzeczywistym. Jest to system klasy snajperskiej, który pozwala na dynamiczne aktualizowanie rozwiązań docelowych podczas przesuwania FFP (Final Firing Position). W przypadku bardziej statycznych sytuacji strzeleckich np. ELR pozwala to mieć pod ręką wszystkie rozwiązania docelowe. To bardzo przydatna funkcja.

Po prostu podaj 5 zmiennych wejściowych prędkości wylotowej (V0) przy różnych temperaturach, w odpowiedniej zakładce i pozwól aby Genesis obliczył skorygowane V0 bez konieczności używania Magnetospeeda lub LabRadara.
Strzelanie z uwzględnieniem wiatru jest sztuką samą w sobie, a Coldbore i Genesis mają własne algorytmy wiatru i unikalną możliwość zdefiniowania do 3 różnych stref wiatru. Bez wątpienia ta funkcja, która wyróżni naszą aplikację wśród bardziej zaawansowanych strzelców na przykład zawodników ELR.
Czy Genesis to złożona aplikacja? Myślę, że jest dużo bardziej przyjazna dla użytkownika niż ColdBore Mobile. Wszystko zależy oczywiście od wcześniejszych doświadczeń użytkownika, ale jeśli używasz już innych rozwiązań balistycznych, nie będziesz mieć żadnych problemów. W rzeczywistości można jej używać do prostych zadań a także do tych bardzo skomplikowanych, zależnie od doświadczenia strzelca, czasami parametry wymagają większej wiedzy. Konfiguracja aplikacji jest prosta, innymi słowy, każdy użytkownik może otrzymać rozwiązanie gotowe do obliczeń balistyki w ciągu kilku minut.
Interfejs użytkownika ma duże cyfry i przejrzyste ekrany oraz łatwy do zrozumienia i logiczny proces wprowadzania danych wejściowych, które pozwalają uzyskać dane balistyczne natychmiast. Regularnie uruchamiam podgląd danych moich kursantów w ciągu kilku sekund jak własne. Ta funkcja pozwala mi sprawdzić dane balistyczne zidentyfikować ich potencjalne błędy. Większość z nich jest zaskoczona widząc, że w ciągu kilku sekund daję im gotowe nastawy.
Genesis, a teraz ColdBore mogą wysyłać dane pocztą e-mail lub zapisywać je w chmurze. Funkcja ta pozwala mi zaoszczędzić wiele godzin przeznaczonych na wpisywanie danych, które generuję w praktyce i na kursach, i które chcę zapisać oraz uzyskać do nich dostęp na wszystkich moich terminalach Genesis, a także w moim laptopie Coldbore. Tak więc mogę je porównać i przeprowadzać analizę. Pamiętajcie tylko o aktualizacji do ColdBore w wersji 1.0.15.0 lub nowszej, aby móc korzystać w funkcji udostępniania i eksportu danych.
A ile kosztuje ta aplikacja na Androida i iOS? Cóż, Genesis będzie kosztować 35,00 dolarów, a w pełni kompatybilny Coldbore tylko w systemie Windows kosztuje 85 dolarów.

Is the new GENESIS, the new king of ballistics apps?
I love shooting far and I love ballistics so it is no surprise that for the last 20 years I have worked closely, in one way or the other, with many ballisticians, entrepreneurs and programmers developing ballistics solvers.
As a sniper and shooting instructor, I use on a daily basis a few different solvers as they are tools for me and my students. They are separated into two large groups: the ballistics suites that allow many other calculations, other than the external ballistics ones and the external ballistics solvers which will give you a fire solution, from basic to very complete. From just elevations to all kinds of shooting gimmicks, from hundreds of reticle types to Bluetooth connections or cloud file handling.
Most shooters will never need a ballistics suite and its advanced ballistics comparison or error budget capabilities, as all of these suites are more oriented to ballistics analysis than just shooting and finding your elevation or windage at the range. To add some complications then run only on PCs and laptops.
After many years I had come to the conclusion, shared by many other top shooters, that the best ballistics suite was Patagonia Ballistics Loadbase and its later improved development ColdBore 1.0.
Colbore gave shooters advanced ballistics analysis capabilities including error budget and comparison graphics generation without having to rely on hard-to-get radar data. The problem was that carrying a laptop on a hunt, sniper mission or even to the range was not very practical. Patagonia had a mobile version included in the Coldbore suite, but it run on Windows mobile which never appealed much to the mass of shooters out there.
If you want to calculate your fire solution at the range most shooters depend on mobile phone hardware platforms. For the already dead PDA to the dying Windows phone, to the widespread iOS and Android. Most shooters want a solution that they can load on their cellphone and carry with them all the time.
Sure, there are dedicated hardware such as Laser Range finders, Kestrel MET stations, Garmin Tactrix watches or versatile GPS 701-Foretrek units that integrate ballistics solvers. Having one of them is a good idea for many occasions, but considering that 100% of shooters nowadays carry a cell phone with them all the time, the logical preferred platforms for ballistics solvers are the cellphone apps.
I could write a book about the different ballistics apps out there, their algorithms, their libraries, their strong and weak points and why some are preferred by thousands or shooters. But even more interesting would be why the best of all the above mentioned never got to be a best seller. In my humble opinion, Patagonia ColdBore is the best solver but Gustavo Ruiz from Patagonia, and World renowned ballistician is a windows programmer and expert. That limited the commercial options as both PDA and then Windows phone had only a small fraction of the market. I tried for decades to convince Mr. Ruiz to compile an Android and/or iOS version but he never did it.
As I say there are many good apps out there but the best was not available in a mass platform. That was until Microsoft pulled the plug on PDAs and then on Windows phone operating system. That was a bad day for Mr. Ruiz and a fantastic day for the rest of us, World´s shooters.
He was forced to design a new mobile version of his Coldbore that would run on Android and iOS. After a couple years, many betas and lengthy discussions, Genesis was born.
Genesis, is a new development of ballistic software, which comprehensively addresses the needs of shooters and hunters, with special emphasis on those who perform long-distance shooting, LR and ELR disciplines.
The design is a multi-modular package, with an interface that follows current guidelines for fast and safe operation. There is no possibility of the user making a data entry error resulting in an out of range calculation. And remember that input error is one of the big issues of most ballistics apps.
Genesis has four modules designed to solve the requirements of the shooters: Shoot, Tools, Targeting and System
As you can imagine Genesis inherits the most powerful and accurate Ballistics engine on the market, the well-known DABE © of ColdBore, which is totally different from the one used by 99% of all known apps.
One feature that sets Genesis apart from all others is that all units of input, whether metric or imperial, can be combined indistinctly and independently, at the same time, in real time and as you go. In other words, there is no need to choose between one unit system or another.
The design of Genesis completely avoids that the results do not correspond to the intended data as any input is validated as soon as you type it in, without the need to press calculate or any other check box. This means that it is always guaranteed that the Firing Solution reflects the data entered by the user, this feature is essential to ensure the integrity of the results obtained, situation that can happen in many other apps if you forget to press the calculate button
System Module
In the System module we find the integration of the software with the Kestrel 5XXX series equipment for those who want to have such information in real time from the meteorological data.
For those that will use Genesis after years of working with Coldbore, it is worth highlighting that Genesis allows easy sharing of Tracks and Targets (user data) with ColdBore 1.0 software to be able to analyze different ballistic comparison scenarios on the PC, advanced Error Budget calculations (Probability of Impact) and other functions where the capacity running multiple tracks simultaneously is necessary.
Targeting Module
In the Targeting module we will find a complete GPS mapping system to create and save targets using an interactive digital map, in such a way as to be able to see in real time a Range Card and the Firing Solution for each target instantly and updated in real time. This is a sniper grade system that allows dynamic updating of the target solutions as you move your FFP (Final Firing Position). For the more static ELR shooters it allows having all your target solutions at a glance. A cool feature.
Shoot Module
The shoot module will be the most used by shooters. There is no software that provides a more complete and accurate Firing Solution. All the effects that you want to take into account such as Coriolis, Aero Jump, Spin Drift and others are available and based on Patagonia Ballistics’ proprietary mathematical model.
Shoot Module is full of advanced features, for example: the shooter has access to the sensors to obtain Slope, Azimuth and Latitude data automatically, in order to have the necessary data to apply Coriolis.
The precision of the DABE © engine has proven for years that it does not require Doppler data to produce highly accurate solutions, it is all a matter of having correct input data and understanding the process to precisely obtain the best possible fire solution. Personal Drag Models are fine and are very accurate, but they limit your flexibility and ties you down to a bullet to a muzzle velocity and to a certain way to a rifle and its twist and wear. I use PDMs too many times, but prefer self-reliance and the possibility of adapting my own ballistics to any changes in those parameters.
Genesis calculates the PBR (Point Blank Range), Maximum Ordinate (for each shooting distance), Hit Threshold and more than 20 ballistic trajectory parameters, all in the desired units (MRAD, MOA; Clicks, IPHY, Turret)
Delta Spline’s system for determining Muzzle Velocity based on Ambient Temperature is also a proprietary development and guaranteed accuracy, provided we have correct data. Just supply 5 muzzle velocity (V0) inputs at a different temperatures, in the regression tab, and let Genesis calculate your corrected V0 without having to use your Magnetospeed or LabRadar everyday at the range.
Wind shooting is an art in itself and Coldbore and Genesis has proprietary wind algorithms and the unique possibility to define up to 3 different wind zones if you want to, with a Multiple Winds algorithm. Without a doubt a feature that will set it apart for the more advanced and ELR users.
Is Genesis a complex app to use? I think it is much user friendlier than ColdBore Mobile was. It all depends on the user’s previous experience, of course, but if you already use other ballistic solvers you will have no issues. In fact, one can go as simple or deep as you want, if we understand that sometimes the parameters that are required imply greater knowledge. But there is also no need to go all the way many times, in other words, any user can be getting a Firing Solution in minutes.
The screen has big numbers and simple screens to make and easy to understand input process and I can get a fire solution in just seconds and most important independently without relying in outside support. I regularly run my students data in seconds as my own reference to check their own apps solutions and identify potential misses and most are surprised to see that I give them ColdBore hit solution in seconds. Doppler is fine and I fully agree in that it reflects your bullet flight perfectly but it also ties you to a bullet and barrel and those two are consumables in ELR world.
Genesis and now ColdBore can send the libraries via email or save them in the cloud and this feature will save me hours of typing the numerous tracks I generate in practice and courses, and that I want to save and access on all my Genesis terminals and also in my laptop Coldbore, so I can compare them and run error budget analysis. Just remember to upgrade to a ColdBore version 1.0.15.0 or later to have this share feature.
And how much does this Android and iOS app cost? Well, Genesis will cost $35.00 and the fully compatible Coldbore in windows only, will cost $85.00.
Those $35.00 will be in my humble opinion, the best dollars spent if you are obsessed like me in coldbore hits.
